Danieli il Divino lies in the immense gardens, some 4 square miles, of the Château "De Brandt" estate, close to the Antwerp city center. It occupies the former coach house turned into a magnificent North Italian villa with a spacious loggia that could come straight out of Venice.
The terraces are an absolute must. Especially in summer for a lunch in the sun and a stroll afterwards in the centuries-old park. Or have a romantic candlelight dinner here in the evening while a cooling breeze rustles the leaves. You won't be disappointed.
The stage is set. Time for creative cooking! First of all, the chef loves the seasons. At Danieli il Divino the card changes the year round, if not every day. Fresh is the motto. Fresh ingredients without any concession are the secret. There are no words to describe the result… The inventiveness of the kitchen staff is simply astonishing. No clichés, no nonsense. Taste and smell combine in perfect harmony. Try the "Pavé Rossini Perfumed with Truffles" or the famous "Osso Bucco with Fresh Greens." It could well be you'll dine here every day. Which is not a bad idea, considering the moderate pricing.
Some people in greater Antwerp say the wine selection of Danieli il Divino is even better than its food. That's nonsense of course. Utter nonsense. The wines are simply good because Renzo Mela is Italian. He knows wine. Italian wines and French wines. He goes to the winemakers and tastes. What he likes gets a place in his cellars. He discovers unknown wines that are excellent. Or great, if you want. He picks great wines because he likes them. The trouble is, he has great taste. That may be the reason his wine list is virtually overflowing. So, you will do him a favor by drinking his wine, and making room for his latest discoveries.
